Modern Hebrew

Modern Hebrew, also known as Israeli Hebrew, is the result of the most successful language revitalization project in history, and intimately linked to the Zionist movement and the founding of the modern state of Israel. There is debate over whether it is a direct continuation of Mishnaic Hebrew or is something closer to a relexified Yiddish, with a grammar that is more Slavic than Semitic.
