Raw material

A raw material or feedstock is the basic material from which goods, finished products or intermediate materials that are also feedstocks are manufactured or made. The term raw material is frequently used with an extended meaning. As feedstock, the term connotes it is a bottleneck asset critical to the production of other products. For example, crude oil is a feedstock raw material providing finished products in the fuels, plastics and industrial chemicals and pharmaceuticals industries.
