PUZZLE LINKS: Online Solver (regular) | Online Solver (harder)
Hey, it’s our first foray into the hex pathfinder puzzle type! This is a tough type to construct, and a pretty challenging one to solve. Our friend Kate Chin Park struggled through the first version of this and suggested we make a simpler version, which we did. It’s still hard! But now it’s doable. Thanks, Kate!
It’s quite possible you’ve never seen this puzzle type before, so here’s how you solve it:
In this puzzle, each answer starts in the correspondingly numbered hexagon, in the direction indicated, and winds its way through the grid. No answer will visit the same hexagon twice. When you are finished, every white hexagon will be used in exactly two entries.
In the regular version, each entry will end at a hexagon with a dot. Whenever two entries end in the same space, that space will be marked with two black dots.
We’ve made a few improvements to our online variety solver for this puzzle type. For one, you can now print the puzzle, which might be a good idea. If you do want to solve online, we highly recommend marking the hexes you’ve used twice. You can do that by clicking “.” in a hex, which will add a “+” to the grid. It’s very helpful when solving this puzzle type.
ICYMI we posted a contest crossword this past Tuesday! Go solve it! You could win a prize.
