I participated in the last two iterations of the Malibu Triathlon, and I do mean last two, as that tri simply does not exist anymore. And while it’s too bad it’s gone for tradition’s sake, the real loss of that triathlon is felt by Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). You see, for years, the Malibu Triathlon had encouraged its participants to raise money for CHLA, and participants raised a lot of money — $1.25 million in 2023, for example. It got to the point where it made up a good chunk of CHLA’s yearly budget. And now, poof, that money is gone.
Well, I’m running another triathlon this year, and it’s not associated with CHLA, but it turns out you can just create a fundraiser for whatever you want. So I did that!
