PUZZLE LINKS: iPuz Download | PDF Download | Online Solver
It’s my first foray into diagramless puzzles! I think this is a fun puzzle type and this should be a relatively gentle introduction to them, if this is your first. In case you don’t know what these puzzles are: they’re just regular crosswords except you have to figure out where to put the black squares. Use the numbers to help you out. Also, some people like to solve with hints as to where to begin, so I’ll take a page from Brendan and give them here, in rot-13:
Symmetry hint: Guvf qvntenzyrff chmmyr vf avar fdhnerf npebff ol svsgrra fdhnerf qbja naq unf erthyne pebffjbeq flzzrgel.
Starting square hint: Gur nafjre gb bar npebff ortvaf va gur sbhegu fdhner va gur svefg ebj.
Of note: the Crossword Nexus solver does not support diagramless puzzles and probably never will, so your best bet for solving the iPuz is either Squares (which is where the “online solver” link will take you) or XWord. Enter a period in a square to create a black square.
